It didn’t take long for our spring weather to be pushed out by the heat and humidity of summer.  Why is it that we always think of the beautiful warm weather when we think of summer, but not necessarily the humidity that often comes with it?  The bed and breakfast central air conditioner unit is running non-stop today as the humidity index rises.  It sure would be nice if we could ease into summer weather, but judging by the heat and humidity of today, that doesn’t seem to be the case.

It’s finally here!  The unofficial start of the summer season!  Memorial day weekend in the Saugatuck Michigan and west coast Michigan area is finally here.  While the start of the weekend seems a bit more like early spring with very cool temperatures, the end of it is expected to reach near 90 temperatures, which seems very appropriate as we transition from the spring season in to the summer season here at the bed and breakfast.  Hopefully our bed and breakfast guests will be able to get out and enjoy the nice weather this holiday weekend.

There’s nothing quite like a sunny 70-something degrees day along the shores of Lake Michigan and today is one of those days.  One thing that seems to change with this kind of day is the moods of people as the sunshine seems to brighten everyone’s day and makes everything seem so much more pleasant.  Yes, it may be a Monday, but a sunny kind of Monday that is perfect of beach weather.  What more could one ask for in life?

Here in the Saugatuck Michigan area we can’t forget that we are in farm country, or at least surrounded by farm country.  As such, this time of year it is not at all uncommon to smell the fresh “country air” of farmers fertilizing their fields with their livestock’s natural fertilizer before the planting season begins in earnest.  Today with the warmer and slightly humid weather, the country air smell around the Saugatuck Michigan area was quite evident.  It’s funny to coming from a farm as a child to experience how some of the city folk from larger cities react when they come to the Saugatuck area and wonder what that “county air” smell is all about.

There is nothing quite like a day along the Lake Michigan shoreline, but especially when it is sunny and the sunshine sends glistening streams of light across Lake Michigan.  Today is a day when one would expect that the shoreline is probably beautiful but alas as an Innkeeper of a bed and breakfast we can not always get out to enjoy it.  However, we are quite sure that our Inn guests are all out enjoying it today.
