Bed and Breakfast Amenities include numerous board games

One of the things that we here at the Kingsley House bed and breakfast pride ourselves for is the countless amenities that we offer our guests to make their getaway vacation in the Saugatuck Michigan area more enjoyable.  Our collection of games includes those for two players (for romantic getaway couples looking with a competitive spirit) and those for more players for groups of friends staying together at the Inn.  Even on warm sunny weekends such as this past weekend, we always find one or more games in guest bedrooms so we know our guests truly enjoy having these pampered amenities and definitely take advantage of them.

Saugatuck’s Restaurant Toulouse

Although we send quite a few of our guests to Restaurant Toulouse in downtown Saugatuck, it’s not often that the Innkeepers are able to experience this fine French/European dining.  It is a great romantic restaurant in the heart of Saugatuck with an outdoor patio area that feels similar to dining on a romantic France courtyard.  These evening a group of our bed and breakfast friends and other Saugatuck friends will all be gathering at Toulouse to celebrate another Innkeeper’s birthday.  We are all very much looking forward to it!

Romantic Michigan getaway for many of this week’s guests

This past week brought many couples to the bed and breakfast for a romantic getaway.  We have had guests on hot air balloon rides, picnics by Lake Michigan’s shoreline, watching our fantastic Michigan sunsets, going on our sailing adventures and lots of Inn guests picking their own fresh Michigan peaches and blueberries at nearby u-pick orchards.  If you haven’t experienced it yet, the West coast of Michigan and the surrounding countryside is a very romantic place to be any time of year, but especially during the summer season.

Summer busy bed and breakfast days

Now in my eighth season of running the bed and breakfast here in the Saugatuck Michigan area, you would think I would remember well how busy these days can become.  Running around like crazy from 6a.m. to 11p.m. is a normal pattern this time of year for us as Innkeepers.  But still, somehow it always seems to surprise me just how busy these days can get.  We aren’t complaining by any means, just that it is so easy to forget just how busy the July and August months are especially in the West Michigan bed and breakfast business.

Saugatuck Concert in the Park continues tonight

As is true of most West Michigan beach town communities, Saugatuck, South Haven, Holland and Fennville all have their own version of a concert in the park series that runs throughout the summer season.  Fennville’s most recent concert in the park was just last evening and Saugatuck is hosting another great performance in Wick Park this evening.  Although the weather has been questionable today, it looks like there is little chance of an issolated shower this evening, so hopefully some of our bed and breakfast guests will be able to enjoy this evening’s music.

Michigan governor race at stake today

After what has seemed like years of campaign ads, today’s election day will finally narrow the race for Michigan’s new governor.    The pool of candidates who wanted to vie for our Michigan state’s  number one spot was more than a dozen candidates when this all began and even today there are five or six candidates that still have a chance at placement on the ballot in our November’s governor race.  But with good reason, with Michigan’s economy being one of the most talked about in the nation in recent years, it’s not a surprise that so many candidates have ideas of how to make our economy (and out state) better.

Bed and breakfast trees and bushes growing like crazy

Our usual routine at the bed and breakfast is to trim the trees, bushes and greenery all early in the summer and then to refresh the trimming once again mid summer.  But this year’s Southwest Michigan weather has meant an incredible growing season, requiring even extra trimmings.  The grounds of the bed and breakfast once again today received yet another trimming of the hedges, trees and bushes.  It seems like we will just have to keep this up all the way through to fall!

Summer season half way point in West Michigan?

For whatever reason, I have always thought the turning of the calendar to August 1st to mark the half way point of summer.  Which would mean that our returning bed and breakfast guests have just five weeks left to labor day weekend to book a Saugatuck and Lake Michigan getaway.  Today’s Sunday newspaper ads were full of going-back-to-school ads so I know it won’t be long until the fall season is here as well.  Actually, August and September are both great months to plan a romantic getaway at the Inn as they always seem to be less hectic as July tends to get in the Saugatuck area.

West Michigan weather cool yet comfortable today

After what has been a rather hot and humid summer season here at our Saugatuck area bed and breakfast, we actually are having a nice break in from the summer heat with highs in the 70’s and lows in the high 50’s here.    It will certainly be a cool weekend for Saugatuck’s Venetian festival in downtown Saugatuck, which won’t necessarily be a bad thing as it tends to draw lots of crowds for the “art coast of West Michigan.”

Saugatuck Venetian weekend is upon us

Venetian weekend in Saugatuck Michigan is one of the most popular festival weekends in the state of Michigan.  Today is the beginning of the weekend long celebration.  Tomorrow night is the cumulation of the celebration with the annual boat parade of lights and the fireworks over the Kalamazoo harbor next to Lake Michigan.  Many of our bed and breakfast guests will be heading to the celebration for the weekend activities which also include a beer tent, live music and much more.
