Christmas decorating begins at the Inn

Every year shortly after October ends, we begin the process of transforming the bed and breakfast into a marvelous Christmas holiday season showcase.  Every room is decorated with it’s own theme tree and the outside of the Inn is transformed as well.  The romantic Christmas season is one of our favorite times of year and it definitely shows through at the Inn this time of year.  Come for a visit during the holidays to see why we like to brag about our holiday decor.

Hot Air Balloon Ride for family visiting Michigan today

My brother and mother came to the Saugatuck Michigan area for the past two days and we took advantage of the sunny clear skies and gourgeous fall weather by going on a hot air balloon ride today.  It truly is an incredible adventure that everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.  Soaring above the tree lines and seeing everything from the peacefulness of the blue skies is something that can not be explained.  We’re all ready to go again!

West Michigan’s Perfect Trick or Treat Weather

Tonight was the annual parade of trick-or-treaters through the bed and breakfast, which always draws over 500 kids and their parents to the Inn.  This year the weather was exceptionally mild (cool, but mild) for what seemed to be great weather for kids of West Michigan to get out and make the annual trek around their area neighborhoods for a bag full of treats.  You can’t help but have a smile on your face most of the evening as you see the children dressed up in their Halloween costumes.  Happy Halloween everyone!

Saugatuck Douglas Halloween Parades today

Every year our local communities of Saugatuck and Douglas host two of the best West Michigan parades around.  The Saugatuck parade is held in the afternoon and is primarily focused on children and pets who parade in their Halloween costumes.  The Douglas parade is held in the evening (begins at 10pm) and is the adult Halloween parade, which of course means that “just about anything” goes.  Either way, both of the parades are excellent ways to celebrate the Halloween holiday.

Review of bed and breakfast posted today

We receive many favorable reviews of our Michigan bed and breakfast throughout the year and we periodically like to post one of these to our online blog page.  Here is one just posted today:  …an elegant and peaceful bed and breakfast and one of the best I’ve ever seen. Jeff and Dave go out of their way to make guests comfortable, from the dvd’s and “last minute basket” to the afternoon treats. The breakfast is delicious, creative, and filling. We’ve been to Kingsley House twice now, and it feels like coming to a second home.

Bed and breakfast website holiday slideshow just added

Okay, Okay, we know it’s not even Halloween yet, but with the colder weather that just entered Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota and yes, Saugatuck Michigan, one tends to think of the upcoming holiday season.  We know from the calls we have been getting for reservation lately that our bed and breakfast guests are already thinking about the holidays.  So why wouldn’t we naturally change the slide show and Inn pictures on the main page to the holiday season?  It’s always a mixed-emotions time of year as excitement builds knowing that the holiday season is coming up soon, yet also knowing what mother nature might have in mind for us as the winter season ushers in.

Signs of the holiday season approaching soon

Yesterday as we were out running some errands, we purchased a case of white Christmas lights as we always need extras for the annual process of decorating the bed and breakfast Inn’s many holiday trees.  Although it is not yet Halloween, we always look forward to the joy and excitement of decorating the bed and breakfast for the Christmas and holiday season.  While we were one of the few customers in the store who were actually looking through the Christmas decoration aisles for lights, we know that others also share our excitement and beginning this process soon is a true sign that the holiday season will be here soon.

Is our bed and breakfast in Michigan or Kansas??

Today’s Michigan weather makes us wonder if (like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz) if we really ARE in a Kansas wind storm.  Across the entire Midwest today, we have an extreme weather pattern that is causing extremely high winds (up to 70mph!!!) and this morning was a nail biter as tornado warnings were plentiful all morning long.  Our bed and breakfast guests took it all in stride though as they still seemed unflustered by our weather report and enjoyed their romantic getaway at the Inn just the same.

Bed and breakfast in olden days

I am sometimes reminded what the Kingsley House bed and breakfast Inn use to be (and it ‘s original intended purpose) back in olden days when it was first built.  Back at the corner of our parking lot their use to be an old fashioned well complete with bucket that would be lowered to bring up water.  What is now thought of more as a lawn ornament the old wishing well pictures that we still have at the bed and breakfast are a reminder of what use to be here years back when the Inn was a working fruit farm and orchards.

Hot Air balloon ride a hit for fall color tours

Our hot air balloon ride over the fields and rivers of West Michigan has been a real hit for our bed and breakfast guests this year.  Just this weekend another two of our couples here on romantic getaways have chosen the hot air balloon ride package and another couple is schedule for next weekend on their anniversary getaway trip.  What a fantastic way to see the fall color displays of Michigan!
