Saugatuck busy days ahead

For those who are coming to the Saugatuck Michigan area within the next few days, there will not be any lack for things to do and see.  Aside from all of the usual attractions in our Lakefront community, there is also the Saugatuck and Douglas sidewalk sale happening this Thursday and the Taste of Saugatuck this coming Sunday.  I’m sure many of our bed and breakfast guests will be participating in these fun events.

In-house massages at the bed and breakfast

There are quite a few romantic enhancements and special treats that can be added to your stay at our bed and breakfast.  But perhaps one of the most spa and pampering touches utilized by our guests is that of the in-house massages.  We work with a number of area certified massage therapists so that our bed and breakfast guests can offer such a great add-on.  We ourselves also take advantage of this one perk by periodically have one of the therapists provide us with massages as well.  Today is one of those days and we can definitely tell you that it is a great spa treatment not to be missed.

Saugatuck Michigan area returns to warm but dry conditions

After what has been a very hot and humid summer season, it is so so so nice to return to the dryer air and more comfortable breezes off Lake Michigan.  Our 8-day forecast has nothing but temperate and dry weather in the upcoming days here.   I have felt so bad for our bed and breakfast guests who planned a nice comfortable summer getaway here at the Inn.  But the funny thing is that I honestly think they have all loved it (or at least a large share of them).  I guess maybe it really was cooler here by Lake Michigan than where they ventured from this summer!

Honeymoon, Anniversary Package ideal for romantic couples

One of our popular romantic getaway packages at the bed and breakfast is the Honeymoon, Anniversary package.  It is designed to be more fitting for a couple on a romantic getaway who may not want to do lots of local activities, preferring to stay in their luxurious suite and enjoy each others company.   A champagne basket with cheese, crackers, chocolates and more is included for the couple’s enjoyment.  It also includes two one-hour in-house massages here at the Inn.  A perfect package for a couple on a romantic honeymoon or anniversary getaway.

Michigan romantic getaway couple post online review

One of our recent couples who were here on a romantic getaway while exploring West Michigan just posted an online review yesterday that reads:   Great place to stay;  historic bed and breakfast, beautiful Inn and grounds, delicious gourmet breakfast (we ate on the wrap around porch), and many considerate amenities and touches.  We would highly recommend this bed and breakfast!!

South Haven’s Blueberry Festival weekend

Dubbed the national blueberry festival, nearby South Haven Michigan’s blueberry festival is definitely one of the largest festival this community draws during the entire year.  Home to many orchards and vineyards, our surrounding Michigan country side, the cooling effects of Lake Michigan and the perfect soil and climate mix makes this area of the country ideal for blueberry production each year.  This particular festival celebrates what is probably the height of the blueberry season.  If you haven’t tried Michigan blueberries yet, you just haven’t tasted real blueberries.

Bed and breakfast wildlife are green too!

It’s fun to watch the wildlife at our Michigan bed and breakfast, especially just outside of our kitchen window.  The lampost and birdbath bring a wide array of feathered friends, but the birdfeeder that is immediately in front of it is funny to watch as each of the wildlife species do their share to make sure that hardly any of the birdseed goes to waste.  The small birds peck at the windows of the feeder, the shells fall to the ground where the chipmunks, squirrels and rabbits all frequent to dine on the delicacies that have fallen to the ground.  In some ways, the wildlife is just doing what we all should take note of in being “green” by not letting anything go to waste.

Saugatuck Wick’s Park gazebo draws friends old and new

This evening we had dinner on the waterfront in Saugatuck and then strolled on the boardwalk in town down to the Music in Park for a nice evening away from the bed and breakfast.  Saugatuck’s music in the park series and the Wick’s Park gazebo always draw a nice size crowd every Wednesday evening in the summer.  Tonight it was especially nice to run into a few of our local friends from Saugatuck, Douglas and Fennville.  Summer time tends to be all about seeing faces of friends that we don’t always get a chance to see in the middle of winter time in West Michigan.

Grand Rapids Michigan business summer outing at the Inn

Among our many guests at the bed and breakfast this summer, there currently is a Grand Rapids Michigan business department here at the Inn today.  They are having meetings in our meeting space of the Inn as I type this.  Of course later they are planning on exploring the winery, Lake Michigan and the Saugatuck area for some rest and relaxation to mix in with their business/summer getaway trip.  It is great to see companies making the effort to do these kind of business outings once again.

Damp breakfast, but sunny and hot Michigan summer afternoon

Our bed and breakfast guests of this morning were all concerned when they came to breakfast this morning as it was dark and rainy during this hour.  But this is summer time in West Michigan and anything is possible as the day progresses.  We quickly climbed into the 80’s and the humidity has unfortunately returned with it.  However, a sunny and hot day is always more welcome than a cloudy and rainy day so we can’t complain.  The Inn guests checking in this afternoon will certainly appreciate the nice air conditioned parlor and guest rooms for sure.
