Holland Michigan Urban magazine features our bed and breakfast

The October/November fall issue of Holland Michigan’s Urban Street magazine has a feature article about the Kingsley House bed and breakfast as well as the history of the Inn.  It also has a feature about nearby Crane’s apple orchards and pie pantry restaurant.  Both of our businesses even made the cover of the new issue that just came out this week!  We’re proud to be featured with our neighboring Crane’s business on the cover of this great local Michigan magazine.

Saugatuck’s Del Soel a sun-worshiper’s dream

A sunny fall day like today in West Michigan makes me think of one of our favorite Saugatuck Michigan retailers, Del Soel in downtown Saugatuck.  The owners Mike and Tracey have had this great store for a number of years now and are excellent Saugatuck residents.  Their store features clothing and other personal articles that change colors in sunlight, which really matches their personalities quite well as they are always lighting up people’s days with their always bubbly personalities.

Harvest fall sunsets

Many of the guests of our bed and breakfast this week have been taking advantage of the gorgeous fall sunsets over Lake Michigan.  But it does seem a bit odd to be telling guests that the sunset time is now before 8pm already.  One of the best times of the year is when the harvest fall moon is low in the sky driving east to the bed and breakfast with the multi colored sunset in the rearview mirror behind you.   A glorious sight to behold!

Grand Rapids Michigan Art Prize = Crowded Restaurants

Now hailed as the world’s largest art competition, the Grand Rapids Art Prize that is currently going on in our area of Michigan has resulted in many very crowded restaurants as art enthusiasts flock to see this exhibit.  Some of our bed and breakfast guests who have taken the time to explore the art exhibit have commented that you definitely need to plan ahead when thinking of dining in the greater Grand Rapids area while taking in Art Prize.   Although many of the restaurants have prepared ahead this year by ordering three times the food quantities as normal, it still can mean long waits for diners as this extremely popular West Michigan event unfolds.

Luxury suites have plush terry cloth robes

One of the many reasons our bed and breakfast guests love staying with us while visiting Saugatuck and West Michigan is the many amenities that we offer our Inn guests.  Our luxury suites all have plush terry cloth robes that we provide for our guests to snuggle up in after their whirlpool tub.  It’s just one of the many extras we offer to make sure that our guests return to the bed and breakfast time and time again.

Allegan Michigan Antique Fair–final weekend of 2010

Every year from April through September the Allegan Michigan fairgrounds becomes home to hundreds of antique dealers who collectively produce one of Michigan state’s largest antique shows.  Tomorrow’s show will be the final one of this season and we as usual will suggest that our bed and breakfast guests consider attending it.  Just twenty minutes from our West Michigan Inn, it is definitely worth the drive and interesting for anyone to attend.  Even folks who are not necessarily into antiques and collecting antiques still enjoy exploring the many boths and vendor’s wares.  Quite a few of the antique pieces furnishing the bed and breakfast rooms were purchased at the antique fair.

Holland Michigan dining options

While many of our bed and breakfast guests prefer to dine at locally-owned restaurants, there is always the option of dining at some of the larger chains as well in nearby Holland Michigan (just 15 minutes from the Inn).  We often times find our selves dining at these many restaurants for lunch as we are usually out running errands for the bed and breakfast at that time of day.  Of course we also like to dine at the locally owned restaurants whenever possible, but having the option of dining at these chain restaurants is always nice when you want more convenient food choices.

Windy City has nothing on us–Windy state!

So far this week we have had unusually warm weather mixed with usually strong winds…blustery would be a better word even!  One of our bed and breakfast guests that checked in today are actually scheduled for a romantic couple hot air balloon ride getaway. But with the strong winds we’ve had recently, it isn’t really possible today and hopefully will work tomorrow for them instead.  Sometimes mother nature still likes to play little tricks on us and this week’s weather is definitely proof of that!

Southwest Michigan Stormy weather night

Last evening was one of those evenigs that our bed and breakfast guests truly felt the warmth and comfort of the Inn as storms rolled through the area.  High winds and strong storms caused damage to parts of West Michigan last evening, but the security of a sturdy victorian Inn such as the Kingsley House is always a warm and comforting place for our guests of the bed and breakfast.

Grand Rapids Art Prize a Michigan art lover’s dream

Now only in it’s second year, the Grand Rapids Michigan art prize exhibit going on throughout the great Grand Rapids area is an art lover’s dream come true.  With 1,700 artists competing for this year’s top prize, you can bet that the art exhibited throught the downtown area is quite “grand.”  Many of our bed and breakfast guests of last year attended the event for the month of the exhibit and competition and we assume that this year will not be any different.
