Discounted gift cards for our bed and breakfast

This year we are offering something we have never done before at our Saugatuck Michigan area bed and breakfast. We are now offering discounted gift cards. For 20% less than the face value of the card, recipients can now give a very thoughtful gift card to the Kingsley House Inn for a fraction of the cost without the receiver even knowing. It will be our little secret. Offered until 12/31/2011.

Bed and Breakfast replica in Inn’s parlor

Fans of the Kingsley House bed and breakfast will want to come back during our holiday season as our Innkeepers have crafted a smaller version of our historic romantic Victorian in confection that is remarkably familiar. It truly is a fantastic work by our in-house pastry Chef Scott and deserves a return visit just to see it.

Another nice weekend at the bed and breakfast

We certainly have had our share of favorable weather this fall when it comes to weekends getaways for our Inn guests. The weekdays haven’t always cooperated, but it sure does seem that the weekend guests have been lucky as the beautiful mild sunny and relatively warm weather has tended to fall on these days. This weekend was no different even though it is now November.

Holiday decorating at the Bed and Breakfast

This time of year it is always a “sign of the times” when we begin that annual decorating of the Inn. We have won awards in past years for the holiday decorations at the bed and breakfast and we plan to make this year no different than the past. Unlike Disney though, we don’t get all of the decorating completed overnight, so it is a process that takes some time to complete.

Halloween Happenings all around west Michigan

With Halloween now just a week away, there has been lots of party announcements, parades, events, and even dinners that have surfaced. It seems as though this holiday of all Hallow’s eve has grown tremendously over the past decade alone as the day seems to be getting more and more popular, especially here in the resort towns of West Michigan.

Gorgeous Michigan fall weekend

We couldn’t have asked for a more fantastic late October weekend in terms of weather for our bed and breakfast guests. It was mild to be sure, perfect for wandering through the pumpkin patches for the great pumpkin or apple picking, a fall stroll along the banks of Lake Michigan or just out driving around in the fall splendor. This time of year is such a romantic time of year, that our Inn guests just could not have picked a more perfect late fall weekend in terms of weather.

Kalamazoo another metropolitan area not so far from Inn

One of the many reasons why we believe out bed and breakfast is so fantastic is the great location. Not only is the Inn centrally located between the resort towns of Saugatuck, South Haven and Holland, we are also near a top-notch winery, apple orchards and Lake Michigan. But on top of that, we are centrally located between Chicago and Detroit and also have the city metropolitan areas of Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo both within 45 minutes of the bed and breakfast. Just today, I ran some errands in the Kalamazoo area and thought just how spoiled we truly are to be located in just a fantastic spot in West Michigan.

Never too late for leaf peepers

Today as I was driving from South Haven to Holland I realized that even though the virbrant colors of our trees are somewhat faded, it is still quite beautiful here in West Michigan for anyone wanting to take in some of the fantastic fall colors here. Typically the “peak” of the fall colors can be seen anytime between the first weekend in October up until Halloween. This year’s extreme winds have knocked down a fair amount, but there is still color to see.

Warm and Cozy days ahead at the bed and breakfast

Every year in mid October we rely on our heating and cooling company to come perform a “tune up” on our furnace for the year to make sure that the bed and breakfast remains warm and cozy throughout the late fall to early spring seasons. Notice that I did not mention the “W” word in that sentence even though we all know it is around the corner now that we are entering the last half of the month of October.

Columbus Day holiday is here!

The holiday weekend of Columbus day always reminds me of two things. The fall “peak” color is always somewhere around or soon after this holiday each year and always my most favorite time of year for full fall foliage color. The other thing it reminds me of is the holidays that always seem to come up quickly right after the Columbus holiday weekend. Halloween is just three weeks away now and then four weeks later is Thanksgiving weekend and four weeks after that is Christmas and a week after that is New Years. It is definitely the “holidays” time of year coming up quickly on us all once again.
